The Sisterhood has roots that date back to the 1870s. Even before the temple was built there was a group of women who called themselves the Hebrew Ladies Sewing Society. They were the inspirational women who raised the money to build Temple Beth El.
Although they no longer are a "sewing society", the women of the temple have an active Sisterhood which includes social and community functions as well as a book club.
Other activities include pot luck suppers, collecting donations for the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center and community outreach functions.
